Dark Legend The Carpathians Dark Series Book 7 Christine Feehan 9780843949520 Books Reviews
Feehan shares with her fans the true story of what happened to the Great Twin Legends. We learn more about the unique twins that shaped so much of the Carpathian history. We also learn that women have their own true powers equal to those of the males, only of the light. Francesca's ability to love and accept is so powerful. I love the inclusion of the human child in the story. It is so awesome to read about such powerful men who value and treasure children. I have and will continue to recommend Feehan's stories to friends. This one did not disappoint.
I really enjoy Christine Feehan's Dark series, as they deal very creatively with vampires and vampire legends. Feehan has created a species, the Carpathians, that closely resembles both man, and the legends of Vampires. Carpathians are, on the whole, honorable, magical, and gifted with many powers. They are virtually immortal, but can be killed. Their men are also cursed to lose their ability to see color and feel emotions after 200 years or so if they do not find their one true lifemate. If they continue too long without color and emotion, the beast within them grows in power, and they eventually must choose to either greet the sun and die, or lose their souls and become vampire.
Dark Legend tells the story of Francesca Del Ponce, a woman who possesses extraordinary healing gifts. To use those gifts openly will bring her to the attention of vampires and a deadly human organization that hunts and kills those with psychic abilities, believing anyone different to be a vampire. Yet Francesca cannot in good conscience ignore the many dying children in need at the nearby hospital. When a legendary vampire hunter and Carpathian, Gabriel, awakes to a new century, his attraction to Francesca unwittingly exposes her secret, placing her in mortal danger from humans and vampires alike.
Definitely the best book in the series. The story of the legendary twins, Lucian and Gabriel, begins in Dark Legend. The heroine, Francesca, is a wonderfully strong Carpathian woman who has endured thousands of years of being alone because her lifemate, Gabriel, did not recognize her. The ending is extraordinarily poignant and very lovingly gives hope to Lucian when he seeks to trick Gabriel into ending his existence.
While I love the entire Dark series, this book is a standout for several reasons. The relationship between Francesca and Gabriel is very balanced in gifts and abilities, which was not the case in Dark Fire, with the human woman continuously doing absolutely stupid things and needing to be rescued every other page. I felt Darius deserved better. Here, Francesca is intelligent and strong. I also loved the great plot twist around Lucien, and the love between the twin brothers that survives centuries. I can't wait for his book. I hope his human lifemate has equally powerful attributes. This book opens the door for several others.I have always had Gregori and Julian as favorites, now Gabriel is right up there. Great book!!!!!
I truly love the older christen feehan books. They are not congested with the explaining chants and backtracking whats happened in other books. These were just free and awe inspiring. I love this story because it is the start of the "Legend" Gabriel and Lucian. But if I must say I love Lucian's story more. I did love this one because Gabriel's mate stood on her own two feet and was not going to let him push her in being bonded. She clearly told him that she would meet the dawn if she chose to...although, Gabriel did steamroll her and knocked her up to keep her from doing that.
This story flows and this book is a favorite. Hes hot and she's everything he needs. There is no stopping Gabriel when he's on a mission, and make no mistake she's is his mission. If only these guys were for real. It's got some real evil vamps and he takes them out. Good book!
This is the 2sd time I have bought this book so evidently I loved it. eapecially loved the gentleness of the woman and how her mate would
help her as she tried to save a molested girl. Her Mate has a twin brother which makes things interesting.
The plot, and characters in this book were as real to me, as a best friend. Their story was easy to understand, and believe. This series is very believable and enjoyable. Thank once again for a great read! Sincerely Patricia Betts Roddy.
